Ingredients

  • cup cheese curds preferably fresh
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs Panko recommended for extra crunch
  • Cooking spray or a small amount of oil

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk or fork
  • Tongs
  • Plate lined with paper towels

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg.
  4. Place breadcrumbs in a separate bowl.
  5. Coat each cheese curd in flour, then dip in egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  6. Place the coated curds in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry at 390°F (200°C) for 6–8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the air fryer and place on paper towels to absorb any excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, double coat the curds by repeating the egg and breadcrumb step.
  • Serve immediately for the best melty texture—cheese curds can become chewy if left to sit.
  • You can experiment with different seasonings in the flour or breadcrumbs for unique flavors.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary to ensure even crispiness.
