Ingredients

  • 4 boneless rib-eye steaks or your preferred cut
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley chopped, for garnish
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce optional for extra flavor
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice optional

Equipment

  • Cast iron skillet or large frying pan
  • Tongs or spatula
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Meat thermometer (optional)
  • Serving platter

Method

  1. Prepare the Steak: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. If you prefer, drizzle with Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice for added flavor. Let the steaks sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes to allow the seasoning to absorb.
  2. Cook the Steaks: Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil or butter and allow it to melt and become hot. Once the pan is hot, carefully place the steaks in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust cooking time to your desired level of doneness). Use tongs to flip the steaks and cook them evenly. You can also use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
  3. Rest and Serve: Once the steaks are cooked to your preference, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for 5-10 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately with your favorite Amish wedding sides like mashed potatoes, corn, and fresh bread.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the steaks for 30 minutes to 1 hour with garlic, rosemary, and a bit of olive oil before cooking.
  • This recipe can be doubled or halved depending on the number of servings needed.
  • You can also try grilling the steaks over medium-high heat for a smoky flavor.
  • The Amish wedding steak pairs wonderfully with traditional sides like green beans, salad, and homemade pies.
