Method
- Preheat & Prepare Pans: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your cake pans.
- Mix Cake Batter: Cream together butter and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Gradually add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture.
- Color & Flavor: Divide batter into bowls. Add cocoa powder, fruit puree, or food coloring for different layers.
- Bake: Pour batter into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Make Frosting: Beat softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Add milk to reach desired consistency. Color frosting if desired.
- Assemble & Decorate: Frost cooled cake layers, adding frosting between each layer. Cover the whole cake with frosting and decorate with sprinkles or fruit.

Notes
Storage: Store leftover cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can refrigerate it for up to a week if you prefer.
Flavor Variations: Feel free to experiment with different flavorings. Use different extracts (like almond, lemon, or coconut) or add fruit zest for an extra burst of flavor.
Gluten-Free Option: Swap out the all-purpose flour for a gluten-free flour blend, and make sure your baking powder is certified gluten-free.
Dairy-Free Option: You can easily make this cake dairy-free by using non-dairy butter and milk alternatives.
Cake Layers: If you want multiple, thinner layers, you can divide the batter into more pans. Just make sure to adjust the baking time accordingly.
