Ingredients

  • 4 ripe avocados
  • 1 lime
  • 1 small red onion finely diced
  • 1-2 jalapeños seeds removed and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Medium-sized mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher
  • Knife
  • Cutting board
  • Spoon (for scooping out avocado)

Method

  1. Prep the Avocados: Cut the avocados in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash to your desired consistency.
  2. Add the Lime: Squeeze the juice from the lime into the mashed avocado and mix well.
  3. Incorporate the Onions and Garlic: Add the diced red onion and minced garlic to the mixture and stir to combine.
  4. Mix in the Jalapeños: Add the chopped jalapeños and mix well. Adjust the amount of heat by removing the seeds or using fewer peppers.
  5. Finish with Cilantro, Salt, and Pepper: Stir in the fresh cilantro, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Notes

  • For a Creamier Texture: If you prefer smoother guacamole, mash the avocado more thoroughly or even use a blender for a completely smooth dip.
  • Heat Adjustments: Adjust the amount of jalapeños according to your spice preference. For a milder version, remove the seeds or use just one pepper.
  • Storage: To prevent browning, cover the guacamole with plastic wrap directly on the surface and store in an airtight container for up to 2 days in the fridge. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months.
