Method
- Combine Base Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the Dijon mustard and mayonnaise. Stir well until smooth.
- Add Soy Sauce & Vinegar: Add the soy sauce and vinegar to the mixture, stirring until fully incorporated.
- Season the Sauce: If desired, add garlic powder, honey (or sugar), and lemon juice to the sauce. Stir to combine all ingredients.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more honey for sweetness, soy sauce for saltiness, or lemon juice for extra tang.
- Chill (Optional): For the best flavor, cover and refrigerate the mustard sauce for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve: Use immediately as a dip for grilled meats, seafood, or vegetables, or as a topping for burgers, sandwiches, and salads.
Notes
If you prefer a lighter version, substitute the mayonnaise with sour cream or Greek yogurt for a tangier twist.
You can experiment with the sauce's thickness by adding a bit of water or extra mayonnaise, depending on your preference.
The sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
For a spicy kick, add a few drops of hot sauce or chili flakes.
This recipe can be easily doubled or halved to suit the number of servings.
