Ingredients

  • Base Layer:
  • 2 cups crushed chocolate cookies or graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • Toppings:
  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup caramel sauce or dulce de leche
  • 1/2 cup toffee bits optional
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Parchment paper (optional but recommended)
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons
  • Spatula or spoon
  • Knife for slicing

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Prepare the crust: In a bowl, combine crushed cookies/graham crackers with melted butter. Mix until it resembles wet sand, then press firmly into the bottom of the baking dish to form an even base.
  3. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust. Spread gently with a spatula if needed.
  4. Add the toppings: Sprinkle chocolate chips, pour caramel sauce in thin ribbons across the top, then scatter toffee bits and chopped nuts (if using).
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and bubbly.
  6. Cool completely before slicing. For cleaner cuts, chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • For a firmer, chewier bar, chill them before slicing.
  • Substitute the chocolate chips with peanut butter chips, white chocolate, or even crushed candy bars for variety.
  • Want a salty twist? Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top after baking.
  • These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 3–4 days or refrigerated for up to a week.
  • Freeze individual squares wrapped in wax paper for quick treats later.
