Ingredients

  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Corn Syrup
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tsp Flavoring such as fruit extracts or candy flavoring
  • 1/4 tsp Citric Acid optional, for tartness
  • Cannabis Infusion:
  • Cannabis Tincture Oil, or Decarboxylated Cannabis Flower (THC or CBD-based, adjust for potency)
  • For tinctures or oils: use about 1-2 teaspoons depending on potency
  • Optional: Powdered Sugar or Cornstarch for dusting to prevent stickiness

Equipment

  • Candy Thermometer (essential for monitoring the syrup temperature)
  • Saucepan (for cooking the sugar syrup)
  • Silicone Candy Molds (for shaping your hard candy)
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons
  • Spatula or Wooden Spoon (for stirring)
  • Parchment Paper (if not using molds)
  • Airtight Storage Containers (for storing the candy)

Method

  1. Prepare Your Cannabis Infusion: If you're using a tincture, oil, or concentrate, measure out the desired amount for your batch. If you're using cannabis flower, decarboxylate it by heating it at 220°F (104°C) for 30 minutes, then infuse it into butter or oil and strain the plant material.
  2. Make the Sugar Syrup: In a saucepan, combine the sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Once dissolved, clip the candy thermometer to the side of the pan. Allow the syrup to cook without stirring, until it reaches 300°F (149°C) the "hard crack" stage.
  3. Add Cannabis Infusion: Once the syrup reaches the desired temperature, remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the syrup to cool slightly before adding your cannabis infusion. Stir thoroughly to combine.
  4. Add Flavoring and Citric Acid: Once the cannabis infusion is fully incorporated, add your desired flavoring (like fruit extracts or mint) and citric acid if using. Stir until evenly mixed.
  5. Pour Into Molds: Quickly pour the hot candy syrup into your silicone candy molds, or onto a parchment-lined tray if you prefer to cut it into pieces later. Allow the candy to cool and harden for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
