Ingredients

  • 10 –12 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar or to taste
  • 2 oz 60 ml fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 3 oz 90 ml white rum
  • 2 cups ice cubes or crushed ice
  • 1 oz 30 ml soda water (optional, for a fizzy finish)
  • Lime slices and mint sprigs for garnish

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Citrus Juicer (optional)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Muddler or spoon (optional)
  • Serving glasses
  • Straw (optional)

Method

  1. Prep your ingredients: Wash the mint leaves and juice the limes.
  2. Muddle (optional): Add mint leaves and sugar to your blender. Lightly muddle with a spoon to release the mint flavor. This step boosts flavor but can be skipped if blending thoroughly.
  3. Blend: Add lime juice, rum, and ice to the blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and slushy.
  4. Serve: Pour the frozen mojito into chilled glasses. Top with a splash of soda water if desired.
  5. Garnish: Add a lime slice and a fresh mint sprig to each glass. Serve immediately with a straw.

Notes

  • Non-alcoholic version: Omit the rum and add a bit more soda water or a splash of lemonade.
  • Sweetener options: You can substitute white sugar with honey, agave syrup, or a sugar substitute like stevia.
  • Flavor variations: Add berries, pineapple, or cucumber for a fun twist.
  • Make-ahead tip: You can blend everything except ice and freeze the mix, then blend again with ice just before serving.
