- In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, lemon juice, lemon zest, minced garlic, and Dijon mustard (if using).
- Whisk until smooth and well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust lemon juice for extra tang if desired.
- For a smoother consistency, add a small drizzle of olive oil and whisk again.
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
To make it spicier, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a few drops of hot sauce.
The aioli can be served cold or at room temperature depending on your preference.
