Ingredients
  

  • Ronzoni Lasagna Noodles – 12-15 noodles 1 box
  • Ricotta Cheese – 15 oz 425g
  • Mozzarella Cheese – 2 cups 8 oz, shredded
  • Parmesan Cheese – 1/2 cup 2 oz, grated
  • Ground Beef – 1 lb 450g
  • Tomato Sauce – 4 cups 32 oz
  • Egg – 1 large
  • Garlic – 2-3 cloves minced
  • Basil – 1/4 cup chopped (or 1 tbsp dried)
  • Oregano – 1 tbsp dried
  • Salt – 1 tsp
  • Pepper – 1/2 tsp
  • Olive Oil – 2 tbsp

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Pot (for cooking noodles)
  • Aluminum foil
  • Spoon or spatula for layering

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the noodles: Boil the Ronzoni lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  3. Prepare the meat sauce: Heat olive oil in a skillet. Brown the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Add minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes. Pour in tomato sauce, and season with basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Prepare the cheese mixture: In a bowl, combine ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  5. Assemble the lasagna: In a greased baking dish, start with a layer of meat sauce, followed by a layer of noodles, a layer of the cheese mixture, and repeat. Finish with a final layer of sauce and cheese.
  6. Bake: Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 10 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Rest: Let the lasagna sit for 10-15 minutes before serving to help it set.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey, sausage, or a vegetarian filling like lentils or mushrooms.
  • For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free lasagna noodles or zucchini slices.

  • You can prepare the lasagna in advance and freeze it for up to 3 months. Just bake it from frozen, adding extra time for heating.
