Ingredients

  • Pizza Dough store-bought or homemade – 2 cups
  • Tomato Sauce – 1 cup
  • Bell Peppers – 2 chopped
  • Sweet Italian Sausage – 1/2 pound optional
  • Mozzarella Cheese – 1 cup shredded
  • Provolone Cheese – 1 cup shredded
  • Olive Oil – 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic – 1 clove minced
  • Oregano – 1 teaspoon dried
  • Crushed Red Pepper Flakes – 1/2 teaspoon optional

Equipment

  • Pizza pan or baking sheet
  • Medium pan for sautéing vegetables
  • Rolling pin (if using homemade dough)
  • Knife and chopping board
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 450°F (230°C). While the oven heats up, prepare the pizza dough.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness, or stretch it into a round shape if using store-bought dough. Transfer it to a greased baking sheet or pizza pan.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a medium pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped bell peppers. Sauté for 5 minutes until the peppers are tender. If using sausage, cook it in a separate pan, crumble it, and set aside.
  4. Assemble the Pizza: Spread tomato sauce evenly on the pizza dough. Add the sautéed bell peppers and sausage (if using). Sprinkle the mozzarella and provolone cheese on top.
  5. Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and lightly browned.
  6. Finishing Touches: Sprinkle oregano and crushed red pepper flakes (if desired) on top of the pizza before slicing and serving.
